the slime incident...
in other news, i have had to shift some of her photos to another host, so i have put a link on the sidebar to the new site.. i'm just doing it gradually because a) it takes ages, and b) i have to replace the photos in this blog at the same time, because when i delete them from the photo site, they disapear from the blog *sigh*.... i've also been adding labels to my posts, which will mean you can search for posts by subject :-D i'm also doing it to my craft blog, where its slightly more relevant! lol (i've also updated my craft blog today..)

oh such a perfect day...
... i'm glad i spent it in pools....
And while we're on the subject of pools, this is a pic from our last trip to the Mt Albert wave pools, a couple of days after her birthday :-D She's getting much more confident in the water, and is able to kick herself round a wee bit in her little ring!
Edited to add- I left the water in the paddling pool, but fenced it off so she couldn't get back in. Of course she broke through the gate, and started splashing the water with her hands, which i thought "thats ok, i'm watching her, she might just get a few splashes on her t-shirt.." mmhmmm... click here to see what happened next.. never trust the baby *sigh*

Another comparison...

Alexis, excuse the pun, thought it was like xmas when i took the barrier away & she could get at all the decorations.. even when i took the first photo she was reaching up to touch a little ornament that was hanging down by her hands!
I'm planning to get a photo of her with the tree every year on the 6th :-D

1 Year Old!!
It was a wonderful sunny day for Alexis' birthday, and we headed out to the zoo! It was a pretty quick trip round (in theory, actually took 4 hours) because we had to get home to prepare for dinner. The kids, including Alexis, got to feed the giraffes! We got to see a tiny bit of tiger (the stomach i think), a tiny bit of red panda (the back) and a tiny bit of hippo (the ears - what else on a hippo could be tiny?!) and a good meercat brawl! We bought a zoo pass so that we can go any time for 'free', which should be very cool!We spent far too long at the zoo, considering we had invited people round for dinner at 5.30pm!
I spent the whole time icing her cake, which was a chocolate number 1, which sandwiched chocolate icing & two layers (yikes..) of blue butter icing on the outside, and decorated with a wee 'A 1' quilt & pillow, to match our bedtime theme, and alexis' name, all made out of royal icing (and the whole cake was vegan! but yummy..). We covered the lounge floor in blankets, popped our tresle table on the ground propped up by a couple of fat textbooks, covered with another blanket as a tablecloth (polar fleece - really easy to wash & stain-resistant heh heh) and had everyone sitting on pillows & cushions :D Meanwhile paul was cooking up a feast, not typical toddler birthday party fare - mushroom & tomato puff pasties, garlic pita breads, and a huge platter of yummy vegan chow-mein!Alexis had a fabulous time, she loved having other kids around, and spent the whole time 'chatting' to people & showing people her presents! She really is becoming a proper little girl!
