watching Curious George on the 'big' screen-
and playing hairdresser-

School Holidays

We've been up to all kinds of things this school holidays, and to start nowhere near the beginning....

Lexi's Rocket!
We made today it for the Stardome Recycled Rocket competition, though lexi just thinks that lots of kids are making rockets to display in the foyer ;-) Lexi's rocket has five main jets, and two auxiliary boosters which will be discarded after launch.

It also has a very happy & proud astronaut floating in the cockpit ;-)
wearing the striped rainbow uniform befitting his position-
then a quick dash to the stardome to drop it off-
with the compulsory Alexis Astronaut pic-
She disappeared while i was filling in our entry, and sure enough she was up the ladder patiently waiting!

"i'm free AND a half!"

we've been having a busy ol' time...
(voluntary labour i swear!)

had a fantastic visit to the museum-
drumming good.
post-modernism bad.

chatting *to* WW2 soldiers telling their stories-
and checking out their planes...
checking out the wildlife-
and hanging out in the pub with grand-dad?!

she also loved the midwinter lantern festival-

and after reading a book called "Monsieur Saguette and his Baguette" how could we possibly resist the display at the fruit shop?

she's mastered the art of preparing for our changeable weather-

and is finally happy to have her hair washed!
see how long it is!
(it's even longer when combed still wet!)

this was a firefighter in action-
and i discovered this in our bed-
and though we're not teaching her to read or write yet, have a look at her x's, and you can just see an a above the NZ post logo-
cool huh?

she thinks she is very clever because she can say astronaut & archeologist, but i think it is cuter when she sings "round & round the garden goes the teh-beh-bear!" or asks for some "wursey whymes!"

now we are three

going on a bushwalk in the waitakere ranges-
making toast (have a close look at the toaster!)-
doing a dino puzzle when we went to visit "Sue" at the museum-
trying on my old kimono-
quiet time with a couple of books-
going to the lantern festival for chinese new years-
doing the obstacle course (in her own style) at MOTAT-
going 'camping' at nana's-
her first pigtails-
our very own pretty babe!
(and yes that is a recurring pose!)

(belated) Birthday Blog!

Lexi's 3rd Birthday!!

Blowing out the candles-
and cutting the cake-
playing with the ribbon streamers we all made-
opening her presents-
having a post-party dip-
and waiting for dinner at her special birthday setting-
i think she was pretty happy with her day!
